Full-time, 38 hours a week About the Role Reporting to the Manager of the Program Manager of Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) and Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Services, the Mental Health Clinician will deliver integrated primary mental health services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in the Local Government Area of Greater Shepparton. The position will be responsible for engagement, assessment, and therapeutic intervention for Aboriginal people within a framework of recovery-oriented practice.
About You Qualifications and Registrations: The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent qualification) in one of the following:
Psychology and current registration or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a psychologist. Social Work providing eligibility and/or current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (required). Other qualifications may be considered, including Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Counsellor. Knowledge and skills: A sound knowledge of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander communities and relevant organisations within the Local Government Area of Greater Shepparton, and a demonstrated understanding of health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical services of a complex nature, where established principles, procedures, and methods require expansion, adaptation, and modification. Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality assessment and intervention for clients within the context of Primary Health Care and the Community Recovery Model in a professional, confidential, and culturally safe manner.
