Mental Health Clinician - HYPE Stream
Orygen Specialist Program
Royal Melbourne Hospital

The HYPE Stream is searching for an Allied Health Grade 2; Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist or Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3 for a case management role.
Provide high-quality clinical care based on clinical experience working with young people with serious mental illness.
Based in Werribee.
The position is Part-Time (0.6 EFT); Contract until August 2025.

Your new team

Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of NorthWestern Mental Health, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 12 to 25 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness.
OSP also works alongside Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health which operates four primary mental health care headspace services in the catchment area.
Multidisciplinary teams deliver individually tailored services that comprise assessment and crisis intervention, case management, medication, psychotherapy, family support, inpatient care, group work, vocational support, educational assistance, and intensive outreach.
Specialist clinical streams offer targeted interventions for psychotic disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders; and also manage the co-morbid substance use disorders, eating disorders, and neurodevelopment disorders.
A forensic stream is under development.
Streams are supported by the Psychosocial Recovery program and the Community Development program.

About the role:

You will provide comprehensive clinical case management and psychological therapy to clients of the HYPE Stream.
The Helping Young People Early (HYPE) program was established in 1999 and provides an evidence-based early intervention service for young people experiencing borderline personality disorder (BPD) and other personality disorders who may also present with other co-occurring mental health difficulties.
HYPE's model of Relational Clinical Care comprises assertive clinical case management, general psychiatric care, individual psychotherapy, family work, and other supports such as vocational-educational support.
The Mental Health Clinician works within a specialist multidisciplinary team environment and is responsible for devising, implementing, and evaluating an appropriate treatment plan for each young person and their family.
You will be expected to function autonomously, carry a caseload of clients, participate in clinical review meetings and practice according to the philosophy and protocols of the service.
You will provide interventions to clients from a range of Clinical Streams and spend time working within other programs such as the Youth Access Team or the Outreach team.

Your Contribution

Qualifications in a relevant area of practice.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in provision of mental health treatment, including with young people.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with young people & families.
Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of the rationale and evidence for early intervention in mental illness.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
