Edon Place Domestic and Family Violence Centre – Bundaberg QLD EDON Place Domestic and Family Violence Centre is a not-for-profit organisation. The Centre is the lead provider, access point and offers a holistic approach to domestic and family violence in Bundaberg and the North Burnett region. EDON Place provides the following programs funded by the Queensland Government – Department of Justice and Attorney General: ROLE OVERVIEW: The primary purpose of this role is to engage with men who perpetrate domestic and family violence within the Child, Family & Community Services program. The Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Practitioner will support the coordinator and co-facilitators of the Perpetrator Intervention Program (T328) including the running of the Responsible and Respectful Choices Men's Group program. Other responsibilities for this position include general administrative tasks, conducting assessments, court support, engagement and follow-ups with clients, managing data entry duties, and assisting with statistics and reporting requirements. Additional information - the DFV Practitioner will provide court support for men ensuring they receive guidance and assistance throughout the legal process. The position will also involve networking with police, the criminal justice sector, and other agencies and services that work in the domestic and family violence field, fostering collaboration to enhance service delivery and outcomes for clients. Furthermore, the DFV Practitioner will receive training to serve as a backup co-facilitator, ensuring program continuity and effective delivery of services. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Undertake duties as required for the provision of group programs for men who are referred due to their use of violence and abuse within their intimate relationships. Connect with other agencies and services to ensure that a safe, holistic, and integrated service is offered to families. Prepare written and oral reports relating to client matters e.g., case notes, referrals, case reviews and case closure summaries, requests for client information from other involved agencies and provide statistical and administration reports as required. Advocate for clients, provide relevant referrals and liaise with other agencies when appropriate. Undertake risk assessments using the organisation's documentation and in accordance with protocols. Develop and maintain networks with other relevant support and referral agencies. Maintain client information systems and data as required. Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent. Provide back up support and debriefing to staff as required. Ensure that the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety Act are adhered to and to take reasonable care of our own personal safety and others in the workplace. Willingness to participate in regular team meetings along with internal and external supervision and being open to feedback on your practice and ability to reflect on your practice. Ensure you uphold human rights legislation and adhere to confidentiality and privacy legislation and EDON Place policies. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and professional standards. Ensure following EDON Place policies and processes and completing organisational forms as requested. Demonstrate EDON Place code of conduct in the workplace ensuring values are upheld in work practice and in interpersonal relationships. Provide the Coordinator/CEO with regular high quality written and verbal reports of emerging practice themes, process, procedure and policy implications and other relevant issues. Support the maintenance of concise, accurate and legible records including case notes, completed forms and reports as required according to program guidelines. Highly developed communication skills and the confidence to respectfully challenge client's behaviours through applying trauma-informed interpersonal communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Other duties as required, including assisting with any other activities required to support the organization, taking into consideration the staff member's experience and qualifications and the level of the position. Maintain statistics (collecting and recording of program data) as required by Department of Justice and Attorney General through timely recording of data on SHIP (Specialist Homelessness Information Platform), QHIP (Queensland Homelessness Information Platform), VCMS (Vacancy Capacity Management System). SELECTION CRITERIA - TO BE ADDRESSED IN APPLICATION Studying towards relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Human Services, Social Work, or Psychology) and/or transferable skills in a similar role. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to establish rapport, negotiate, influence, advocate and resolve conflict respectfully. Effective computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and working in database systems. A sound theoretical understanding and a willingness to develop highly advanced clinical skills in the areas of domestic and family violence, including the impact of abuse on individuals, families, and children. Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently with excellent time management skills including the ability to set priorities and meet timeframes managing competing priorities and stressful situations, monitoring own stress levels, and practicing and promoting self-care strategies. Effective written and oral communication skills including the capacity to conduct assessments and develop an evidence-based rationale. Knowledge of, or the ability to develop skills in, facilitating groups in compliance with departmental and organisational practice standards. Demonstrated commitment to personal/professional growth through supervision and participation in professional development and ongoing training. Maintain engaging interactions with others despite differences or agreeing what is being said, without judgement or othering. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, continual improvement, risk management and occupational health and safety. POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Staff must hold a current driver's licence along with a valid Working with Children Card and undergo a Criminal Records Check prior to employment. Subsequently, staff must report any criminal convictions or Criminal Court Proceedings.
