Melbourne: Legal Counsel - Commercial

Details of the offer

Permanent Role: Legal Counsel - Commercial Create the in-house career pathway you want with LOD LOD (Lawyers On Demand) is one of the largest and fastest growing global legal services businesses, and as a 'new law' pioneer, we continue to lead the market we created.

We're a global business with offices around the world that focus on providing end-to-end solutions for our clients' legal needs, by connecting them with our team of exceptional legal professionals.
We provide secondment opportunities, legal advisory services, and legal operations & tech solutions.
Together, we find new ways to supercharge the value that legal professionals and in-house legal teams deliver.

With LOD, you get all the best bits of being a lawyer - interesting work with some of the world's most exciting organisations, plus the flexibility and freedom to live your life how you want.

An opportunity exists for a commercial lawyer to join us in a full-time permanent role.
We have a strong pipeline of interesting and career-enhancing assignments across various sectors (including IT, FMCG, oil and gas, energy, construction, property, financial services, insurance etc).
With us, you'll be encouraged to think commercially and strategically to assist our clients in more than just a 'black letter' way.

No assignment or day is ever the same when you work with LOD.
As a permanent member of our team, you'll regularly be out on assignment with our clients, or at times working from our HQ offices on specific client matters, or you could be doing a mix of both at the same time.
This could involve being seconded as in-house counsel to multinational tech giants, FMCG companies, big and boutique financial institutions through to not-for-profits and start-ups; or providing legal support and advice on specific projects in-house, for example, the roll-out of regulatory reform regime within an organisation.

The work that you do could be general in nature or more specialised depending on your skillset and the direction you want to develop your career.
We'll work with you to map out the direction you want your career to go in and support you with the type of work you want to be doing.

Who are we looking for?
Have between 2-6 years PQE gained from top or mid-tier law firms or in-house with strong legal training Be experienced in commercial or corporate law Hold a current Australian Practising Certificate Be client centric - commercially minded, adaptable and able to hit the ground running Enjoy partnering with businesses and managing stakeholder relationships What sets us apart?
We're an Employer of Choice: for the fifth year in a row, we've been recognised as an Employer of Choice by Australasian Lawyer.
We're even prouder that we've received an employee NPS score across Australia of 81 which is recognised as "ground-breaking".
CV-enhancing work with global brands: We provide our people with varied, challenging, career-enhancing work with global brands, allowing them to take control of their career and diversify their experience across a range of industries.
No limits: We've helped open doors, break glass ceilings, facilitate the transition from private practice to in-house, and develop career pathways to become a GC.
Whatever direction you want to take your career, we can help you get there.
You're never on your own: Throughout your LOD career, you'll be part of a community – our HQ team and be supported by your fellow LOD Legal team colleagues.
You'll have access to mentoring programs and high quality know-how, LOD social events, and receive regular training to assist in your ongoing growth and development.
We're global: we can provide you with local, interstate and international working opportunities.
In late 2023, LOD joined forces with Consilio, the global leader in legal consulting and enterprise legal services.
Together, LOD & Consilio have a team of approximately 10,000 lawyers, legal engineers, legal operations consultants, paralegals, and risk & compliance professionals spanning North America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and the Middle East.
