Description:
Melba Support Services is actively recruiting for Disability Support Workers to join our team on a Permanent, Part-time basis in Sale. This is a dynamic, sleepover model home supporting 5 adults with high support needs, on a rotating fortnightly roster and a staff-to-resident ratio of three. Each individual in this home has their own unique personality, preferences, and care needs, and we are looking for adaptable and resilient individuals who are dedicated to helping them live fulfilling and independent lives.
The individuals living in this home require specialized care and support, including manual handling, Stoma care, epilepsy management, and mealtime assistance. They also present with behaviors of concern, which makes this a challenging yet deeply rewarding role.
These individuals enjoy a range of activities, from community outings like swimming, walks, and theatre shows, to spending time with family and gardening. Community engagement is central to their lives, and you will play an important part in ensuring they continue to access and enjoy these opportunities.
We are looking for someone who can not only provide practical support but also genuinely engage with the people in this home, helping to create a supportive, person-centered environment that encourages personal growth and autonomy.
What You'll Do:
Implement support plans based on supported person's needs, preferences, and interests. Help with all aspects of daily living from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night. Aid people to get to their chosen activities like social events, work, and appointments. Promote personal choice and control for the person. Assist with personal care & hygiene and household duties like cleaning, cooking, and washing. Administer medication. Qualifications and Experience:
A Certificate IV in Disability (desirable, not mandatory). A passion for enabling and working with people. Desire for meaningful work and comfortable providing people with daily living support. Willingness to learn new skills and undertake ongoing training. Willingness to work as part of a team. You will also bring with you or be willing to obtain:
NDIS Worker Screening Check. Working with Children Check. Unrestricted Australian Driver's License. Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status, including booster. Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.
