Medical Scientist Grade 1-2 Part Time Fixed Term Anatomical Pathology - Cytology/Histology Part time fixed term position - 40 hours per fortnight Based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), Parkville - varied role working in Cytology and Histology experience dependant Join a supportive and diverse Pathology team The Anatomical Pathology department at RMH is a NATA and RCPA accredited laboratory which provides a wide range of Histopathology and Cytopathology testing, participation in multidisciplinary meetings, teaching and training activities, pathology registrar training, research activities, including tissue banking and deceased patient management.
We are looking for a Grade 1-2 scientist (experience dependant) with Anatomical Pathology experience in Cytology and Histology to join our team of highly specialised scientists and technicians, in the provision of services to RMH and the Parkville Precinct medical providers. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work across various technical roles participating in a rotating roster.
Your new role: Perform routine Cytology and Histology duties including Cytopreparation, Embedding, Microtomy, Scientist cut -up, frozen sections, special stains. Cytology screening and report writing (Preferable). Perform specialized Histology duties including Immunohistochemistry, Renal histology, FISH and Molecular pathology. Perform attendance of simple and complex procedures - Renal biopsy and FNA. Participate in staff meetings, self-education activities, internal & external training courses, and in clinical and scientific meetings. About you: You hold a Bachelor of Applied Science with an Anatomical Pathology major (Histology/Cytology) and bring experience working in an Anatomical Pathology laboratory experience in Histological and Cytological techniques including attending Biopsy and FNA procedures. You have tertiary teaching hospital laboratory experience and are looking to expand your skills working across a variety of roles. You have effective communication skills and a passion for continued professional development. You are well organised, self-motivated, and work well in a multidisciplinary team.
