About the business The Canberra Heart Clinic was established in 2010 and provides outpatient cardiology services to Canberra and the surrounding regions in a modern yet caring environment. Four cardiologists specialize in the areas of interventional cardiology, general cardiology, echocardiology and paediatric cardiology. Patient ages therefore range from 2 days old to 101 years old. The clinic offers excellent staff facilities which are not matched by any other medical center in the region. The clinic utilizes highly advanced technological equipment and this assists in the efficient running of this health service. The staff are friendly and support each other in this busy yet stimulating workplace environment.
About the role The successful candidate will be initially working in both our Deakin and Gungahlin clinics.
Staff will be trained to perform all major duties within the practice including cardiology reception and patient setup. This therefore creates a very exciting job opportunity.
Cardiology reception duties include answering phone calls, setting up the practice for the start of the day, greeting patients, organizing patient investigations, liaising with external healthcare providers, patient billing, submitting Medicare claims and banking. Other tasks include general cleaning, proof reading cardiologist letters, sending medical correspondence and scanning medical letters. As the only cardiology practice with a paperless filing system, traditional tasks are streamlined.
Patient setup includes weight and height measurement, blood pressure measurement, entering in medications and past medical history into practice management system and performing an ECG. Tasks also includes setting up patient for Holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, exercise stress echocardiography and transthoracic echocardiography. Training will be provided for all of the above.

Skills and experience We are looking for highly motivated people who are able to work in a challenging fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and task prioritisation is therefore essential. Having high initiative, being hardworking and having excellent computing skills is important. Knowledge of practice management system Genie is preferable. Excellent interpersonal skills, both with patients and other staff members is essential. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is a must. Eager to learn, self-motivation, attention to detail and a great team player are highly desirable. Candidate should possess the ability to liaise with patients, families, carers and other health professionals in a compassionate manner.
We currently have two positions available for an immediate start. The role is part-time (2-3 days a week) from Monday to Wednesday. Other days may be required depending on other staff leave.
