Director, Regional, Infrastructure, Planning and Transport Branch
Full-time TemporaryDetails: Policy and Cabinet is seeking a highly motivated policy professional to backfill successive vacancies in the Regional, Infrastructure, Planning and Transport Branch. This challenging and broad-ranging role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to rotate through two different positions in the Branch.
Policy and Cabinet is a dynamic division that provides advice, support and direction across the ACT Public Service on complex policy matters. The Regional, Infrastructure, Planning and Transport Branch provides whole of Government policy advice and support in relation to a wide range of policy matters including: planning, environment, transport, city services, infrastructure and economic development.
The Branch also has lead responsibility for coordination, delivery and strategic advice in relation to regional and cross-border issues; Auditor-General matters; and ACT Government services in Jervis Bay Territory.
The Director will support the Senior Director by leading the delivery of priority projects and work streams. These may include:
Drafting of strategic policy advice to the Senior Executive and the Chief Minister.Intergovernmental engagement with the Commonwealth, NSW and local governments on regional and cross-border issues.Leading the ACT Government's engagement with the Commonwealth in relation to the ACT Government's role in service delivery in Jervis Bay Territory; andWorking closely with Directorates to support the delivery of strategic whole of government priorities, including in relation to cities policy and land matters.Managing a small team, the ideal candidate will have strong leadership and management experience to draw on the right skills and people to deliver the objectives of the Branch. You will also have strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills and a commitment to achieving positive community outcomes.
You will be required to build strong relationships across the public service and with key external stakeholders to provide whole of government governance support and strategic policy advice to the Executive and Ministers in relation to Cabinet matters and Government priorities.

Eligibility/Other requirements: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline are desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.
A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
This position operates in an activity-based working (ABW) environment. Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
