Overview of the role The Media Trader plays a key role in supporting offline media planning and investment across TV, radio, cinema, print, out-of-home, and direct digital campaigns.
You will assist in the execution of media plans, collaborate with media owners to negotiate deals, and ensure that campaigns are delivered effectively to achieve client objectives.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, is detail-oriented, and has a knack for analysing data to drive successful media outcomes.
Responsibilities of the role Media Planning & Buying Collaborate with the team to develop and refine media plans for offline channels, including TV, radio, cinema, print, out-of-home, and direct digital.Assist in briefing and negotiating deals with media owners to ensure the best rates and added value for offline campaigns.Monitor campaign implementation across offline channels to ensure that they align with client objectives and budgets.Track the progress of all active and upcoming campaigns, raising any issues promptly to ensure smooth delivery.Support the team with material instructions for internal and external creative agencies, ensuring timely delivery to meet media plan deadlines.Manage day-to-day media holdings to ensure accuracy, staying within budgets and delivering as per the media plan.Load media activity into billing systems (SMD) to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.Troubleshoot and raise any issues related to media buying with the Group Media Director and Account Executive.Gain knowledge and experience in media industry tools such as SMD, Fusion, Asteroid, TVMap.Research Conduct industry and competitor research to support campaign planning and strategy.Use industry research tools to extract insights for more effective offline planning.New Business and Internal Projects Support with new business, internal projects, and other workshops.Reporting Capture proof of postings and develop post-campaign reports to evaluate offline media performance.Assist in building client dashboards and reports, presenting offline and digital metrics internally and externally.Develop post-campaign reports, showcasing key metrics, learnings, and opportunities for improvement.Relationships Build strong internal relationships with digital teams, finance, and creative departments.Develop partnerships with media owners to ensure optimal trading conditions and added value for clients.Support in managing relationships with media owners and clients to maintain long-term partnerships.Continued learning and development Attend industry events, courses, and talks to continue growing in the role.Share knowledge and insights with the team to enhance overall media understanding and capabilities.Take initiative to deepen understanding of offline media trading and planning to provide better recommendations.Requirements Desired skills and experience for the role Recent graduate or equivalent experience in media, advertising, or marketing.Be genuinely interested in marketing communication and its role in business.Strong interest in media investment, particularly in offline channels (TV, radio, print, OOH).Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure value-added deals from media owners.Numerically minded, with excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Capable of building strong relationships both internally and externally.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.Understanding of media billing systems (experience with SMD is a plus).A genuine curiosity about the media landscape and eagerness to learn.Must have the right to work in Australia.Benefits What We Offer We offer a dynamic, flexible, and energetic working environment that rewards hard work and success.
