About the role: The Media and Events Adviser is responsible for providing media relations advice, driving the creation of high-quality media content, and telling compelling stories about the impact of the Department of Health's work. The incumbent will work closely with branch colleagues, ministerial offices, department executives and relevant business areas within the department to ensure communications material is clear, engaging, timely, and aligned to the department's strategic narrative and plan. How you'll make a difference: The Media and Events Adviser will develop Ministerial event opportunities, both media and stakeholder – identifying potential locations and stories, arranging logistics of the visit and drafting supporting materials.  Reporting to the Head of Media, and working within a small portfolio-based team, the Media and Events Adviser will be required to produce a range a range of materials, including media releases, QAs, talking points and event briefs. At times, this will also include working on wider communications materials, such as fact sheets, newsletters, digital content, and communication campaigns
Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate: Provide media relations advice, direction and outcomes to a portfolio of internal and external stakeholders. Identify positive story opportunities across traditional media and digital media platforms and work with portfolio experts to develop and pitch them to senior staff. Provide communications advice and work collaboratively across the department to ensure the delivery of effective communications of high written and visual standard, complying with departmental and whole-of-Victorian Government guidelines. Stakeholder management, faciliation, flexibility, influencing skills, creativity and innovation are essential to succeed in this role A tertiary qualification in fields related to communications, media or associated disciplines would be advantageous To learn more please click 'Apply' to view the Position Description on the Careers.vic website.
