A Day in Your New RoleThe phone buzzes with a media inquiry; a journalist is eager to discuss a recent Council initiative.
Drawing on your strategic expertise, you quickly craft a concise, impactful response, ensuring the Mayor is prepared to deliver the message confidently.
Later, you collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop an engaging speech for a community event, weaving in key themes that resonate with the audience.
The day concludes with a media briefing, where your meticulous preparation ensures every question is met with clarity and precision.

Here, you'll be the trusted advisor to senior leaders, enabling them to articulate their vision with authenticity and poise.
Your work will support critical projects, foster community trust, and enhance the reputation of a forward-thinking Council dedicated to excellence.

Your ResponsibilitiesDeliver high-quality communication materials, including speeches, media releases, and briefing notes.Act as the go-to media advisor for Council's leadership, ensuring alignment with corporate communications objectives.Manage media enquiries and develop proactive communication strategies.Support the planning and execution of civic, business, and community engagements.Collaborate with internal teams to foster stakeholder relationships and ensure consistent messaging.What You Bring

A degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.Experience advising senior leaders or public officials on media and communication strategies.Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives under tight deadlines.Proficiency in managing media relations, including drafting responses, preparing briefings, and handling sensitive issues.A background in local government or media (preferred but not essential).Why You?
