THE OPPORTUNITY Cruise Whitsundays is seeking Marine Vessel Engineers (MED 1) to join the team on a permanent full-time basis. Offering a unique lifestyle roster based out of Airlie Beach, The Whitsundays. Working 4 days one week and 3 the next where you never work a full weekend!
This is a hands-on position which oversees, through relevant procedures, the safe mechanical operations of vessels ensuring all repairs are conducted safely and efficiently.
What you will be doing? Perform daily engine and machinery checks on assigned vesselsAlongside the Master, manage and ensure the safe operations of the vessel in accordance with policies and proceduresDiagnose system problems as they occurEnsure all maintenance requirements and ramifications are recordedCoordinate and maintain effective vessel preventative maintenance programsAccurately maintain logs and work orders through to job completion and sign offAssist with securing vessels at the various marinas and island jettiesBe involved in safety drill practices as required by the MasterAssist with guest experience duties including meeting and greeting guestsABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will have demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments and introducing practical safety measures.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Marine Engineer, preferably within the Marine Tourism industry.
