Mechanical Engineer

Details of the offer

Munters Pty Ltd, a global leader in energy-efficient and sustainable climate control solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Melbourne team. The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and implementation of innovative climate control systems, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability. This role offers an opportunity to work with a talented team on projects that have a real impact on enhancing energy efficiency and environmental control for diverse industries.
Key Responsibilities: Designing Climate Control Equipment and Systems: Design and develop HVAC and climate control components, including heating and cooling systems, ducts, and air handling equipment tailored to project specifications for buildings and facilities. Studying System Functionality and Team Roles: Review project information, functional statements, and organizational charts to clarify roles within the engineering, manufacturing, and installation teams, identifying overlapping responsibilities and optimizing workflow for climate control projects. Establishing Efficiency Standards for Labor and Resources: Implement work measurement programs and analyze work samples specifically within the climate control system operations to develop standards that enhance labor efficiency in design, manufacturing, and installation. Setting Quality and Safety Standards: Establish quality control, testing, and safety standards for the installation, modification, and maintenance of climate control systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and engineering best practices. Analyzing Resource Utilization for Optimal Efficiency: Examine workforce usage, facility layout, and operational data to maximize worker productivity and ensure equipment is optimally allocated for climate control system production, testing, and installation. Product Selection and Configuration: Recommend the appropriate products, configurations, and accessories to match the client's technical and operational requirements. Work with the sales team to help guide product selection and provide accurate information on how each component will contribute to the overall system performance. Developing System Specifications and Layouts: Create detailed specifications for climate control system manufacturing, specifying materials, equipment, piping, material flows, capacity, and layouts to ensure performance and energy efficiency. Inspecting Systems to Maintain Optimal Performance: Regularly inspect climate control systems and related infrastructure to ensure all equipment functions at peak performance, making recommendations for upgrades or preventive maintenance as needed. Conducting Operational Efficiency Audits: Regularly assess climate control system operations through audits to identify potential improvements in energy use, equipment performance, and workflow integration, aiming to reduce waste and boost productivity. Preparing Proposals and Quotations: Present proposals to clients, explaining the technical and economic benefits of the proposed solution to support the decision-making process. Overseeing Maintenance and New Design Implementation: Supervise ongoing maintenance of climate control systems, coordinate with engineering teams on new design requirements, and schedule regular system assessments to extend system longevity and maintain efficiency. System Design and Specification: Develop detailed system designs and specifications based on project needs, including layout, component selection, and performance parameters. Use CAD software to create system drawings, models, and schematics that illustrate the proposed climate control solution. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (Master's preferred). 3+ years of experience in climate control systems, HVAC design, or related industries. Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles. Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, ISO, etc.) and building codes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Preferred Skills: Experience with energy modeling software, such as EnergyPlus or eQUEST. Knowledge of smart climate control systems, IoT, or automation in HVAC. Certification in LEED, HVAC design, or related professional credentials. Strong communication skills for collaboration and client interaction. Job Type: Full-time
