Maritime Constructions is a marine contractor, uniquely capable of self-performing the full spectrum of specialised engineering disciplines to deliver complex near-shore marine infrastructure projects from design and construction through to commissioning. Projects include jetties, wharves, bulk loading facilities, dredging, reclamation, navigation aids, marinas, underwater pipelines.
Having experienced continuous and significant growth, we're now looking for a highly experienced Training, Development & Competencies Officer to join our team. You'll be joining a skilled team who are experts in their field, providing a rich learning environment and contributing to the team's professional development.
About the role:
The Training, Development & Competencies Officer is focused on planning, developing, and delivering both theoretical and practical training programs. These programs will emphasise the safe, compliant, and effective use of our specialised plant and equipment. Additionally, they will create comprehensive reference materials, guides, and induction packages, ensuring that new employees are well-informed. This role will conduct training needs analyses and contribute to workforce skills forecasting, ensuring viability, efficiency, and sustainability of Maritime Construction's growing deliverables.
Key Objectives:
Develop and Maintain Training Materials: Create, manage, and update comprehensive training and induction materials that reflect current industry standards, company policies, and plant and equipment usage manuals, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Design Competency Assessments: Design and implement practical competency testing for specialised equipment operations. Establish minimum achievement levels for each training area and drive a minimum pass rate of 90% average for all participant trainees. Deliver Engaging Training Programs: Build a positive culture around training and employee development. Design engaging, fun, relevant, and challenging training material that will drive employee buy-in and increase Maritime Constructions employee development initiatives. Conduct Training Needs Analysis: Conduct a thorough assessment of the current state through meeting with key stakeholders within the business to identify skills gaps and forecast workforce development requirements. Enhance Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on AMSA/AMFA regulations and industry best practices by attending relevant seminars or workshops annually, incorporating insights into training content. Foster a Supportive Learning Environment: Mentor and coach team members and trainees, providing support and guidance that promotes a culture of continuous learning and improvement within Maritime Constructions. Ensure Compliance and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant assessments, and compliance documentation, reporting on statistics quarterly. Travel and Flexibility: Prepare for and accommodate necessary travel to support regional training needs, maintaining a flexible schedule to ensure training delivery across all locations. This role will report into the National Manager, Human Resources and work closely with Business Unit Leaders and Project Managers. You will be delivering training at various sites across the state, including regional areas. There may also be opportunities for occasional interstate travel to deliver training needs to our employees in WA.
Skills and Experience:
Exceptional organisational skills Understanding of technical documentation and heavy plant Ability to design effective training programs and materials tailored to different learning styles Strong verbal and written communication for developing, producing, and presenting training materials Experience leading workshops and training sessions in an enthusiastic, engaging, and interactive manner Ability to demonstrate collaboration skills for working with subject matter experts and stakeholders across the organisation Advanced skills in assessing training needs through gap analysis and evaluating program effectiveness through feedback and metrics Ability to manage multiple training initiatives, including planning, execution, and follow-up Undertake accurate assessment and record keeping, ensuring compliance remains consistent Adaptable and supportive, with a natural inclination to coach and mentor Familiarity with VET deliverables Creative and likes to have fun! Qualifications:
