Kinexus has been retained by a renowned international maritime business to recruit a new Managing Director (MD) for their Australian business. With strong backbone contracts and an established and high performing team in place, we are looking for a seasoned leader and manager to take the business to the next level.Our client provides equipment and services to the naval and commercial marine sectors and has significant long-term contracts with the Department of Defence as well as commercial customers.The Managing Director (MD) will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the Australian business. The MD will drive the company's growth and performance by leveraging their industry expertise, business acumen, strategic thinking and leadership skills to achieve corporate objectives and ensure sustainable development.The MD must be a strategic thinker who can connect with people at all levels and who also has the technical expertise to deliver operational excellence. Main responsibilities are listed below.Strategic LeadershipDevelop and implement the company's strategic plan in alignment with the company's global objectives.Identify and drive growth opportunities, including new business ventures, partnerships and market presence.Foster and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers, staff, unions and suppliers.Operational ManagementOversee day-to-day operations, ensuring safe, efficient and effective management of resources, financial, operations and strategic goals.Monitor key performance indicators and financial metrics to ensure targets are met.Drive innovation in operational processes, technologies and service offerings.Deliver high levels of material readiness across the asset fleet.Lead the formulation of budgets, processes and tools.Ensure financial sustainability and profitability by managing costs and maximizing revenue.Lead, motivate, and develop the senior management team and employees.Promote a positive company culture that supports safety, professional growth and high performance.Applicants with the following attributes are encouraged to apply:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.Proven experience in senior management roles within defence, maritime, oil and gas, rail or heavy industry.Proven track record of successful strategic planning, business development and ability to execute strategic plans.Excellent leadership and communication skills.Excellent people and interpersonal skills.Ability to foster a positive, proactive, and collaborative company culture.This role is based in Sydney with some domestic and international travel required.
