How do we work?Reporting directly to the Head of Asia Pacific & Emerging Markets, this role will be responsible for leading and developing operations and contributing to the overall performance of OANDA's Australia business, by managing current client relationships and programs, generating new business, and recruiting, developing, and growing staff. The Managing Director of Australia will also be responsible for devising regional and country specific strategies, identifying and executing on key growth initiatives and identifying and executing on opportunities for cost efficiencies. This person must collaborate regularly with key stakeholders, including the CEO, CFO, global function heads and Managing Directors of other regional offices. This is a regulated position, whereby this person will be a named Responsible Manager, approved by ASIC. This person will be able to maintain a strong relationship with the regulator and provide support as and when is required. This person will be responsible for driving the P&L results and EBITDA growth for OANDA Australia. This person will need to have the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, develop and implement country specific market strategies, drive P&L results and build a strong brand.In this role, you will:
Identify, develop and implement business strategy in collaboration with the local team and global management ensuring that the recommended strategy supports the business growth agreed with the Head of APAC & EM.
Stay in tune with competitive landscape and regularly review OANDA's own product, price and service offering to remain competitive.
Continue to maintain OANDA's exemplary culture of regulatory compliance by working closely with and supported by the global compliance team to meet local regulatory requirements.
Plan and direct the organization's activities to achieve stated/agreed targets and standards for financial and trading performance, sales, culture, and legislative adherence.
Recruit, manage, train and motivate direct reporting staff according to company procedures, policy and relevant employment law.
Maintain a high level of communication with the other OANDA offices regarding organizational plans and performance.
Report regularly to the company's headquarters by providing relevant operating figures and taking responsibility for all financial aspects of the business down to profitability.
Maintain and develop organisational culture, values, and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners, and regulatory/official bodies.
Plan and manage internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, aims and activities.
Participate in global management meetings as and when required (this may also involve travel).
Independently use required tools to monitor and analyze trends in data, gain insights and apply them in reports, presentations, and other communication tools to guide decision-making.
Review existing information and new data, combine them to generate reports that offer relevant insights, information, and recommendations for self and the relevant stakeholders to make appropriate decisions on the organization's learning needs.
What skillset you need, to be successful in this role?
Three or more years of experience operating in a similar position in a lean, high growth, high change, international environment.
Demonstrable leadership strengths combined with the ability to develop, motivate and lead high performing teams in a similar size organization.
Strong P&L responsibility/accountability.
Finely honed cross-cultural abilities and a willingness to travel.
Well-developed communication skills with strong presentation, written and oral skills.
Possess initiative & creativity in approach to problem solving while maintaining a practical perspective.
Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to test an idea and then scale a proven concept.
"Growth hacking" mentality with the ability to find new and creative ways to influence growth.
Cost conscious mentality, seeking opportunities for EBITDA growth.
Experience and proficiency working with a retail aggregation platform configuration (oneZero, PrimeXM, Integral) is beneficial.
Experience supporting APIs such as FIX and REST is beneficial.
Experience working directly with liquidity providers and data vendors is beneficial.
Proficiency working with issue-tracking and documentation suites such as JIRA/Confluence, or TFS/SharePoint is beneficial.
