About The Role
Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, the Manager (Workplace Health and Safety) will lead a professional team to deliver WHS policies, strategy, initiatives and systems to continuously improve WHS outcomes, ensure compliance with legislative obligations, and drive a positive safety culture across the department.
The Role Will Require You To
Develop and lead the implementation of the Department's safety strategy, supporting initiatives, and projects to enhance WHS performance and safety culture.
Lead the ongoing planning, continuous improvement and implementation of the department's Safety Management System and associated policies, standards, procedures and processes to mitigate risk, ensure legislative compliance and drive safety performance.
Advise on complex WHS matters including investigations and risk management, oversee monitoring and reporting, and training in line with legislative compliance.
Provide specialist advice, expertise and coaching to executives and managers on the discharge of their WHS duties and obligations through implementation of the safety management system.
Oversee and lead the capability development of the Department's network of Trained Safety Advisors to support effective and compliant local operational safety outcomes.
Prepare briefing notes, reports, submissions and other correspondence on a range of WHS related issues.
Foster a positive team culture and build the capability of the safety team.
