About the role We have a rare opportunity for a Manager, Trade and Analytics to join our Sales and Marketing team here at Peabody, based in Brisbane. Reporting to our Director, Sales Marketing and Optimisation, you will be responsible for daily transaction execution of Peabody's broker-platform sales, derivative trades, and ocean freight fixtures. Additionally, this position leads Peabody's seaborne marketing analytics by leveraging existing and new information sources to offer deep insights into global commodity and energy markets that inform Peabody's commercial strategy.
Other responsibilities include:
Timely execution of Peabody's market-facing brokered commercial transactions for physical coal sales, derivative transactions, and sourcing of physical ocean freight in alignment with approved strategies.  Building then leveraging a network of market participants and brokers of physical coal, derivatives and ocean freight to collect real-time intelligence for feedback to Sales Book Owners.  Ensure financial hedge book is operated in compliance with Peabody policies. Establish and execute ocean freight fixtures in alignment with requirements of sales book. Oversee operation of charter parties in compliance with Peabody policies to optimise sea freight's contribution to costs of sales, including demurrage mitigation. Undertake global market analysis relevant to the sale and trade of coal, including supply & demand, trade flow, pricing and competitor benchmarking. Guide sales strategy and tactics through analysis of sales book, contribute to identification of medium-term customer opportunities and short term customer benchmarking. The lifestyle :
This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from our Fortitude Valley office with working from home options. Peabody offers flexible start / finish times and 'redistributed working week' giving employees flexibility to finish at noon on Friday's.
About you: A successful applicant will be commercially driven and tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline. You will find fast paced, transactional environments motivating and you will be able to balance 'big-picture' thinking at the same time as demonstrating exceptional attention to detail in your modelling and analysis. Your past experience in the resources industry and your interest in the full value-chain of commodity transactions, including derivatives and ocean freight, will set you up for success in this role.
