Some of your responsibilities will include:
Lead and manage the multi-disciplinary Technical Services team with a specific focus on implementing strategies to maintain and improve technical capabilities.Manage staff, contractors, and consultancies to meet the evolving needs of functional areas, in accordance with contractual arrangements.Develop and communicate a strategic vision for Technical Services, ensuring alignment with state-wide priorities. Provide guidance to enhance technical capabilities and support district objectives.Maintain a structured program of works and customer base by liaising with functional areas as well as other Managers (Technical Services) to ensure consistency in the coordination of resource allocation, outputs, and standards in contributing to the delivery of the state-wide program and priorities.Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to in order to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards and procedures.Actively collaborate with project sponsors and program managers, aligning technical support with program criteria and priorities. Contribute effectively to District Leadership activities and initiatives.Develop and maintain ongoing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop, analyse and implement strategies to support the delivery of the QId Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) and meet district and regional priorities.Provide high-level strategic and operational advice and support to the District Director, District Leadership Team and program managers on matters relating to the provision of technical services, including the identification and resolution of complex issues.Preparation of submissions and briefs and provide input into ministerial and departmental correspondence.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Desirable requirements :
While qualifications are not mandatory, a recognised tertiary qualification in a related area would be highly desirable.Experience in a technical discipline relevant to transport engineering or civil projects eg design, survey, planning.
Requirements of the role:
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.Experience in the management and application of technical and administrative governance frameworks to monitor compliance with policies, legislation, regulations standards and procedures associated with infrastructure activities.Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to be able to convey complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner to various stakeholders, including team members, clients and senior management.Ability to foster connections across the organisation and with external stakeholders to enhance collaborative service delivery, ensuring sustained relationships.Demonstrated ability to effectively manage workloads, balancing multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.Demonstrated ability to identify problems, analyse situations and find innovative solutions. With a strategic mindset to address complex technical challenges effectively.Experience in the development and implementation of strategies to ensure ongoing technical capability is maintained across a multi-disciplinary group which aligns with the needs of the business.Demonstrated ability to apply project management principles in the delivery of multiple infrastructure related projects.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
