The Commission supports the Commissioner for Equal Opportunity in administering the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 and the Strategy, Engagement and Education team provides the Commission's external service of providing education, awareness, and training on the Act, as well as the provision of information regarding unlawful discrimination and the rights of Western Australians.
The Manager Strategy, Engagement and Education is responsible for undertaking strategic and operational planning for the Equal Opportunity Commission. The role manages the community education and engagement function of the Equal Opportunity Commission to inform the community of their rights and obligations under the Equal Opportunity Act 1984. The position identifies community engagement strategies to support substantive equality; and coordinates forums and programs to support the implementation of substantive equality in the public sector.
Key Responsibilities Knowledge and critical understanding of the causes and effects of discrimination and harassment at the societal, systemic, and individual levels.High level of ability in designing and delivering education programs about sensitive societal issues in a way that meets the learning needs of a diverse range of people.Leadership and management skills including the ability to efficiently manage resources and make strategic decisions.High level communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels and prepare material to enhance community awareness of the Act.The holder of this position must have the ability to travel intrastate and interstate and be able to stay overnight away from the Perth CBD.
To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
