About the role
Rio Tinto Procurement provides supply chain services that deliver value to the Rio Tinto Group through the strategic sourcing of goods and services for all operations and businesses. Value is enabled through close collaboration with business unit stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of requirements, and then delivered through uniformed processes, e-technology, increased corporate social responsibility and measurable value delivery for the Rio Tinto Group.
We are looking for a Manager, Resource & Mining Services (RMS) to lead a team in the delivery of category strategies across a diverse portfolio. The RMS portfolio includes Mining Services, Rehabilitation, Civils & Earthworks, Drilling & other related services. This role will work collaboratively with functional disciplines, mining operations and Procurement Business Partners to develop commercial strategies, and drive business priorities of safety, people, sustainable value, partnerships and growth for our assets.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and self-motivated individual who is passionate about developing people and building an inclusive culture, has comprehensive understanding of mining operations, deep experience in stakeholder engagement and demonstrated capability in category management and supporting productivity programmes.
You will have the ability to interface with a variety of stakeholders at different levels and influence outcomes. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Regional Goods & Services, you will:
Evolve and implement the sub-category strategies related to RMS;
Identify opportunities to uncover new value in safety, productivity and cash, by working in collaboration with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders;
Lead the category team to deliver and implement commercial strategies, aligned with Rio Tinto Iron Ore priorities;
Develop and leverage partnerships to improve Indigenous employment outcomes and conduct sustainable engagement with Local, Indigenous and Traditional Owner businesses;
Collaborate with our Contractor Management teams and strategic supplier to develop their safety maturity and improve safety performance;
Contribute to driving the Global Procurement and BP West Coast cultural and functional priorities as a member of the BP West Extended Leadership Team.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
Significant work experience in commercial and/or operational roles with prior exposure in managing mining related categories preferred;
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills with proven capability in developing strategic solutions to critical business problems;
Demonstrated ability to coach and lead high performing teams;
High stakeholder engagement standards with the ability to work across the matrix to drive sustainable outcomes;
An inclusive mindset with the desire to positively contribute to an engaged and progressive culture.
