About usAs a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS), disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders. Purpose of roleThe Community Engagement Unit sets and drives the strategic direction for community engagement and education in QFES. The team is responsible for providing strategy, policies, and resources to ensure a contemporary and consistent approach to community engagement and education. They work in conjunction with other teams across the department and external stakeholders to ensure Queensland communities are engaged in a meaningful way about fire safety, and other matters relevant to QFES through designing and facilitating education and training programs to educate and build community capability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergency events. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Community Engagement you will The Manager plays a pivotal role within QFES providing a link between state and regions and leading the Regional Community Engagement Coordinators (RCECs). You will be responsible for the management and supervision of geographically dispersed RCEC staff, who contribute to the resilience of local communities and agencies through coordination of proactive and responsive engagement strategies and evaluation of relevant programs.
