About the opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a dynamic energy enthusiast to fill an important position in a new and growing Government team.
The Manager Power Systems Engineering is responsible for leading and directing the strategic planning and delivery of critical and complex power system related programs, projects and services that lead and influence the development of the least cost energy system.
Within this context the role leads and oversees the delivery of critical power system research projects and best practice network analysis and provides authoritative advice regarding power system analysis and no regrets power system development actions to unlock the state's resources and demand growth potential.
The position engages with a wide range of energy market stakeholders, including industry organisations and groups, regulatory bodies, government, and consultants to inform the delivery of South Australia's affordable and reliable energy supply that meets greenhouse gas emissions targets.

The Forecasting and Planning Function is responsible for the publishing and maintenance of the South Australian Electricity Development Plan which, utilising energy-system modelling, assess the least cost pathway for the development of the South Australian power system.
Key Selection Criteria:

Extensive experience in leading the strategic planning and delivery of complex programs, research projects and services that deliver power systems analysis including critically examining, interpreting and summarising sensitive information and formulating innovative solutions. Highly proficient in using PSS/E for load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis with ability to support integration and correlation of necessary results with PLEXOS software. Substantial relevant industry experience and demonstrated experience in electricity transmission network analysis and the interpretation of analysis performed by others. Extensive knowledge of the physical operation of electricity transmission systems, network constraints, and the overarching markets. Qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or similar recognised discipline expertise. Accreditation as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPEng) is highly desirable. Proficiency in PSS/E (and related) software. Remuneration: PO5 level, $124,449 - $130,253 per annum (negotiable)
Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week
