Applications are invited for the full-time role of Manager Office Administration & Staffing in the Office of Senator Kerrynne Liddle, based in the Senator's Electorate Office in Adelaide, SA.
This position runs the administrative functions of the office providing expert, timely and reliable oversight of operations to support the work of the Senator in an environment that is complex, fast-paced and unpredictable.
A highly motivated and organised person would be well-suited to this role.
The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to: Overseeing day-to-day office activities to support the Senator's work including organizing procedures, processes and systems to effectively manage the demands, functioning and requirements of the office including budgeting, reporting and compliance.
Supporting the responsibilities of the Senior Advisor in delivering on parliamentary work related to media, public speaking events and policy preparation when and as necessary. This will include reasonable travel with the Senator when necessary.
Managing and monitoring budgets, managing all correspondence, file systems, mailouts, databases and supplies and equipment, maintenance and repairs, OHS compliance, supplies, vendor relationships etc. Managing the Senator's diary and appointments, including travel bookings and meeting deadlines and compliance obligations for regulatory reporting in relation to use of public funds, reporting of conflicts etc.
Managing staff in line with the MOP(S) Act Enterprise Agreement and employees as well as application of policies and rules, including overseeing the induction and off-boarding of staff.
It is also responsible for internal administrative approvals consistent with guidelines and rules. Occasional travel throughout the electorate and to Canberra for sitting periods as required.
Working outside of standard business hours as required to support the work of the Senator.
Other reasonable duties as required.
The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience: A customer service focus with a pleasant, positive, and respectful demeanour when engaging with office staff and constituents. Strong verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail. Outstanding organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks to deliver to agreed deadlines. Excellent computer skills including experience working with Microsoft 365 and Excel. An understanding of the Australia's system of government and parliamentary processes. High levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion while operating under limited supervision in a team environment. Experience in leading and working collaboratively in a small team. Experience in a political environment is preferred but not essential.
Employment conditions: The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in theCommonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-2023 which include : A commencing salary between $81,666 and $91,990 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
An additional optional allowance of up to $34,416 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
