The need to maintain the risks relating to investment at an acceptable levelThe need for liquidity in the fundsOther matters as prescribed by regulation.The Opportunity Arguably the most attractive in-house opportunity in the South Australian taxation market, this is an opportunity to be responsible for leading the tax function of an organisation with $46bn FUM across 18 asset classes, covering both investment tax and corporate tax matters.
Notably, the (tax) compliance obligations of the organisation are managed by the finance team, enabling this role to be focused on high value, strategic, expert tax advisory.
This opportunity would suit an exceptional taxation practitioner with extensive experience in advising (either as external clients, and/or in a similar in-house environment) sophisticated funds management organisations, particularly in the context of outbound international investments.
Accountabilities Implementing and overseeing the tax governance framework, including tax risk assessment and mitigation strategies and reporting to stakeholders, including the BoardManaging the relationship with external tax advisors.Working collaboratively with the Investment, Governance & Strategy, Legal and Finance & Operations teamsLeading and co-ordinating the function of procuring and managing tax advice for all investment, operational and corporate matters.Responsible for overseeing and effectively implementing the tax structuring and management of external tax advice relating to investment funds and/or investment transactions (in local and overseas jurisdictions).Instigating and managing the tax due diligence of new investment transactions and ongoing monitoring of existing investments.Work closely with clients to ensure that their specific tax profiles are fully understoodCommunicate structures and tax outcomes to relevant committees and internal stakeholders including the delivery of reports, papers and presentations.Qualifications & Experience Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or related degree.Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA or qualified SolicitorLikely extensive experience within a Big 4 advisory firm, large law firm with an established tax practice or in-house within the Funds Management or Superannuation industry.Maven Partners Maven Partners is a specialist financial advisory, accounting and taxation recruitment services business.
