Manager, Insurance OperationsAbout This Opportunity The Manager, Insurance Operations has a key responsibility for managing Insurance Services' systems and processes and supporting the Associate Director, Insurance Services on projects to review and implement changes to UQ's insurance portfolio.
Key Responsibilities: Manage and supervise the overall conduct of UQ's annual insurance renewal data collection via the GRC System.Support the Associate Director, Insurance Services in the management of claims and renewal of UQ's insurance policies with optimal cover and price.Oversee administrative requirements relating to the insurance renewal, including to satisfy UQ's procurement and delegation processes, finance processes and certificate of currency requirements.Manage the collation and audit of accurate UQ insurance policy wordings with UQ's appointed insurance broker in accordance with renewal terms.Provide advice to all levels of University staff based on technical knowledge and active research of leading insurance practices, and how these could be leveraged to provide best outcomes for the University and its stakeholders.Play a key role in implementing a service-focused continual improvement strategy that is aligned with the University's strategic objectives, including:design and implementation of automation and process improvement initiatives relating to UQ's insurance portfolio;working with UQ's appointed insurance broker to identify areas for potential improvement to the structure and design of UQ's insurance portfolio;managing projects to implement changes to UQ's insurance portfolio;collaborating with Enterprise Risk and other stakeholders as required to provide insurance input on risk-focused process improvement projects;providing supervisory guidance to Insurance Officers supporting these activities.Provide support to the Associate Director, Insurance Services in the management of claims as required.This is a full-time, continuing position at HEW Level 8.
About You: Relevant postgraduate qualification, or extensive relevant experience and management expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Strong knowledge of insurance principles and practice, and of alternative risk finance strategies.Experience planning, developing and implementing operational activities, processes and procedures, streamlining and improving efficiencies.Excellent communication skills with proven ability to foster collaborative relationships demonstrated through clear, concise advice and reports to internal and external stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to apply specific knowledge in developing, implementing and reviewing processes, procedures and strategies in a complex organisational environment.Experience working in a higher education provider or comparable complex environment.The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check etc.
