We would love you to see some of the exciting work and opportunities available at DWER.We care | We build trust | Better together | Open minds | We serve to make a differenceThe Opportunity:The Department is looking to establish a talent pool to fill immediate and future vacancies for Approvals Managers within our Green Energy directorate, with positions located in Joondalup and all regional locations considered.The Green Energy directorate leads the environmental assessment and approvals of all Green Energy projects including conventional wind, solar and wave power generators; hydrogen industries; lithium mining, critical minerals processing; and construction or manufacturing of green energy in WA.The Green Energy team supports the state's overall goal to decarbonise industry and diversify the economy and to deliver the State Government's commitment to net zero by 2050. The team will work hand in hand with colleagues across DWER, the Western Australian government and the Commonwealth to deliver the directorate's work.Your well-developed experience in water and environment regulation across Western Australia's Environmental Protection Act 1986 and Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1914, particularly in areas of chemical/processing, refineries, and battery manufacturing relevant to Green Energy, or water take and native vegetation clearing with effective interagency/stakeholder engagement will be highly valued.These are some of the exciting initiatives that we are working on:Opportunity to help shape industry's behaviours and practices through regulation of their activities and delivering better environmental outcomes.Ensuring effective, sustainable regulation of the clearing of native vegetation in Western Australia, including through strategic projects and reform initiatives, to deliver better outcomes for native vegetation and biodiversity protection.Leading the establishment and implementation of a cross-government Green Energy Approvals initiative, driving the delivery of green energy solutions for Western Australia to support the transition to net zero greenhouse gas emissions.As a department, we recognise that flexible working arrangements support effective work-life balance, empower our people, and increase team productivity.
