About the role…The Manager Governance, Strategy & Risk is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the Office of the Executive Officer (OCEO) including the governance, strategic and corporate planning, and risk management functions.
Reporting to the CEO, you will provide expert advice, ensure compliance with legislative requirements, and the delivery of high-quality efficient services. This role is instrumental in driving the Council's strategic vision, fostering teamwork, and enhancing relationships with key stakeholders.
What you will do…Governance: Oversee corporate and civic governance, ensuring compliance with statutory processes, legislation, policies and procedures. Provide expert advice to the CEO, Leadership Team, key staff, and Elected Members. Coordinate and review Council reports, agendas, motions, and minutes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of Council's Strategic and Corporate Planning Frameworks, Council's strategic planning and annual operating plan process, develop performance measures and reporting on strategic objectives and actions.Leadership: Inspire, manage and empower a high-performing team, fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.Risk Management: Develop and manage a robust risk management framework and proactively identify and mitigate risks, whilst embedding a culture of risk awareness.Stakeholder Engagement: Support Council's engagement with political, diplomatic, and key external stakeholders.What they are looking for…Leadership Experience: Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.Technical Expertise: Proven experience in governance, strategic planning, and risk management.
