About The Role This role is one of eight leadership positions within the Onboarding and Connections group which are together responsible for the end-to-end process of assessing, connecting, registering, and commissioning new generators, major loads, and transmission projects across the NEM.
This role will lead a highly capable team of up to 15 engineering professionals to define the technical performance requirements of emerging technologies at all stages of the connection process, and champion the implementation of those requirements into National frameworks, guidelines, and regulatory change.
The role will be an industry partner for technology manufacturers to assess and integrate new models and technologies in preparation for their real-life application.
What you will be doing As the Manager Technical Solutions, you will: Lead the Technical Solutions team to develop faster, smarter, and more robust approaches to connecting new plant to Australia's network.
Foster a high performance and an inclusive culture.
Provide technical leadership and develop a central area of expertise for OEM data, modelling capabilities, and emerging technologies - including grid forming technology, inverter-based loads, and offshore wind.
Take ownerships of evolving technical connection investigations and improvement processes to navigate technical and regulatory challenges to deliver tangible connections reform initiatives.
Support industry and government in connecting large scale renewables and storage through mechanisms like the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, Qld Energy and Jobs Plan, Victorian Renewable Energy Targets, SA Hydrogen Jobs Plan, and ARENA Large Scale Battery Storage Fund.
Work closely with stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to industry-wide challenges in integrating large amounts of renewables, storage and emerging technologies.
Key stakeholders include State and Federal Governments, generation developers, OEMs, network businesses, and industry associations such as the Clean Energy Council.
What you will bring to the role   Strong personal gravitas to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders, a strategic mindset, and the ability to work with complexity and change.
Demonstrated experience in energy system and energy market planning, operations and connections.
Strong decision-making skills founded on analytical and critical thinking.
Demonstrated experience delivering innovation and change, thinking strategically about the requirements of the future, being comfortable with ambiguity, and driving outcomes in the face of resistance.
A natural ability to balance technical robustness with pragmatism in finding fit for purpose solutions.
Ability to engage with confidence and credibility, with people at all levels, both internal and external.
Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline (for example electrical engineering).
