The Manager, Emergency Management leads the Emergency Management Team who support the organisation, its partners and the broader metropolitan water sector to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies and crisis events.
They lead emergency management governance and capability building initiatives across the organisation to comply with relevant legislative obligations and business strategies.

Your key responsibilities As a key member of the Assurance & Resilience Division's Leadership Team you will be responsible for managing the Emergency Management Team (4 FTE) and providing organisational wide leadership to improve our emergency management capability.
Your key responsibilities will include: Strategic Leadership : Working with the Board, Executive and Senior Managers around the business to inspire strategic direction and purpose on crisis management, emergency management and public information/crisis communications including governance programs and activities to enhance YVWs ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and crisis events.
Support during incident and emergencies: Overseeing the implementation of our incident management systems, processes, procedures and tools, and representing the organisation as an Emergency Management Liaison Officer as required.
Coaching and providing support to staff and partners who fulfil roles in the Incident Management Team.
People and performance management: Demonstrating a personal commitment to a positive safety and wellbeing culture – where your actions match your words.
Developing, coaching and supporting the staff in your team with a particular focus on creating positive and collaborative engagements.
Building stakeholder relationships: Building strong relationships across the organisation, with key internal stakeholders and fostering collaboration, teamwork and a culture of learning.
Establishing strong working relationships, partnerships and relationships with emergency management organisations, networks, private sector organisations, non-government organisations and community groups.
What we're looking for Ability to lead and positively motivate a team Team player and able to collaborate with others Excellent written and verbal communications skills Ability to quickly build an effective working rapport with staff and partners at all levels (including Boards and Executive teams) and influence decision making to ensure effective business and customer outcomes can be achieved.
Highly developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills Analytical mindset and critical thinking Ability to be flexible and prioritize – often at short notice Delivery and outcome focused Adaptable and flexible Comfortable working in ambiguity and uncertainty Degree/diploma/qualification in Emergency Management Public Safety or similar.
Other qualifications will be considered when coupled with relevant operational experience in a relevant field.
