About the Department for Correctional Services The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing re-offending. Duties The Manager Custodial Operations is responsible for the effective management of the centre's daily routine and for ensuring the provision of a high quality, cost effective prisoner accommodation service within an institutional environment. The Manager Custodial Operations is also responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of security and emergency management systems and services including responsibility for: security and safety, perimeter security, access control, control room operations, prisoner admissions, prisoner visits, external escorts for the prison and liaising with a range of senior staff in order to gather intelligence on potential security threats and exposures. The Manager Custodial Operations is responsible for assisting in the development of Emergency Management principles and initiatives including preparing response plans, policies and procedures.
Special Conditions Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check.A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential.A flexible approach to working hours is required.Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.Requirements Essential: Nil
Desirable: Appropriate qualifications in management or human service related disciplines.
Remuneration COS6 ($90,604- $97,532 pa)
