The Job The APAC Content Strategy & Analysis (CS&A) team is responsible for developing and implementing content strategy across WBD's global streaming portfolio, with emphasis on the APAC region. As the in-market lead for ANZ, you will be evaluating content performance and trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations to leadership and influence decision making at a broad scale. ANZ is a high priority market for WBD's Streaming portfolio, with significant potential for growth.
This role requires a high level of collaboration with partners across WBD – the right person for this role is the kind of person who obsesses over details, thrives in ambiguity, and jumps at the opportunity to take on new challenges. The Manager will play a key role in supporting relationships across teams and delivering high quality work in one of the highest priority business initiatives at Warner Bros Discovery.
The Daily Your key tasks will be to:
Act as a bridge between local cross-functional teams and the APAC streaming team, reporting directly to the APAC CS&A lead and delivering results to the GVP, International Streaming CS&A.
Serve as a key thought partner for senior management and leadership within the region, in particular the APAC Streaming Lead, APAC President and ANZ GM.
Take an overall big picture view of the business across ANZ, how it fits into the overall APAC ecosystem; and be responsible for driving the overall content strategy and vision.
Help develop frameworks and analyses for assessing key strategic questions facing the business, including evaluating how much and what type of content to invest in, identifying content performance indicators and trends, assessing title and portfolio level performance.
Develop regional content licensing strategies to maximize return and drive profitable growth, in close cooperation with acquisitions leads – including deal valuation analyses and recommendations.
Lead green light analysis for original and acquired titles in the region and present to Streaming CEO and global stakeholders for approval.
Support Content and other Streaming teams in understanding current performance on the platform, connecting content insights to business opportunity.
Partner closely with other counterparts in the region, especially Content, Data & Analytics, Finance, Research, and Business Intelligence, to build the tools and processes necessary to drive strategy and analysis initiatives.
Provide support for senior management, including strategy reviews, board presentations, and other leadership meetings or ad-hoc projects as required.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of industry trends and competitive activity.
Serve as primary point of contact and help coordinate cross-functional Streaming and content initiatives in ANZ.
Take responsibility for business plans and long-range plans, in partnership with Finance and other Streaming functions.
The Essentials Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or other relevant field that demonstrates extensive quantitative orientation.
5-8 years of work experience, including 1-3 years in relevant fields or functions (e.g. management consulting, investment banking, finance, corporate strategy, etc.).
Highly motivated, disciplined, taking initiative and be able to work effectively autonomously.
Energetic, positive, and resilient with a demonstrated ability to influence, build relationships, and drive projects among cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
Possess a high level of intellectual curiosity and focus on generating results.
Ability to synthesize the output from analyses, identify the "so-what," develop early hypotheses, and propose the next line of inquiry.
Collaborative and diplomatic by nature, but also willing to take and defend data and analysis backed positions in the ongoing process and dialogue around content selection.
Passion for entertainment, love for content and avid viewer, as well as a passion for staying on top of industry trends while figuring out what the future will look like.
Exceptional organizational skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills, and a team player.
Excellent analytical skills and financial modelling capabilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics.
Familiarity with both Microsoft (including Excel, PowerPoint) software ecosystem.
The "Nice to Haves" Experience in the media and entertainment and/or direct-to-consumer space is a plus.
Knowledge and understanding of the broader Australia and New Zealand media landscape, including PayTV, distribution and FTA.
Hands on knowledge and experience of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, Microstrategy, Power BI, or similar.
Openness to occasional business travel within and outside the region.
