SafeWork NSW is undergoing an exciting and important period of transformation as we establish the organisation as a modern, strong and standalone Work Health and Safety Regulator.About the teamYou will be supporting a team of compliance inspectors to respond to workplace incidents and complaints. The team specialise in Work Health and Safety compliance, to ensure workplaces are safe and improvements are made when risks or issues are identified. Management of the team involves mentoring inspectors, work allocation, responding to ministerial communications, using data to identify strategic compliance efforts and supporting proactive projects. Stakeholder engagement with unions, industry bodies and business owners is also a key part of the role.Your responsibilities will include:Leading a multi-disciplinary team of SafeWork inspectors and other officers delivering a complex range of pro-active and response regulatory services.Communicating effectively with industry stakeholders in a way that builds trust and supports collaboration.Providing leadership, direction and support to staff working within a dynamic high-profile environment ensuring adherence to public sector values.Utilising data and intelligence to guide targeted compliance efforts across Central West NSW.Working collaboratively across SafeWork NSW and as part of a local management team to focus on delivering on the organisation's priorities.Implementing a performance monitoring and evaluation framework to ensure consistency and accountability.About youDemonstrated experience in leading regulatory staff within government compliance/enforcement areas.Outstanding people leadership and communication skills with the ability to provide strategic direction to a team within a dynamic and changing regulatory operating environment, and drive a high-performance culture.A strong commitment to, and be an advocate for, leading the strategic and operational direction of the business to align with organisational objectives.The ability to build relationships with stakeholders and industry groups and collaborate with aligned agencies.In joining SafeWork NSW, you will be rewarded with a great opportunity to apply your experience with your passion for workplace health and safety.
