Are you looking to start or build your career in a hands-on mining role? Kick-start your maintenance career at BHP and study at our industry-first FutureFit Academy. We are looking for enthusiastic people who are keen to take the next step and become qualified maintainers.
About the opportunity You will be paid while you train at the FutureFit Academy and become a Maintenance Associate at BHP. These are permanent opportunities, and once successfully completing your studies, you will continue your employment with BHP based at one of our mine sites.
Maintenance Traineeships are a 12 month training program based at the academy. Trainees study to become highly skilled and valued Maintenance Associates with BHP, completing a Certificate II in Engineering – Production Technology and becoming familiar with maintaining specific mining equipment.
The Mackay academy is currently offering training programs for Heavy Diesel maintainer roles. The training involves a mixture of both classroom and practical learning on how to maintain equipment such as Bulldozers, Graders, Loaders, Excavators, Dump Trucks and much more.
Training is undertaken at our training academy in Mackay. While training you will be working a roster of 7 Days / 7 Off / 7 Nights / 7 Off, day shift hours are 6am to 4:30pm and night shift hours are 1:30pm to 12:00am.

Upon successful completion of a training program, you will commence mine-site based employment. When working at one of our mine sites, we provide you with ensuited accommodation and meals at the mining village you'll be staying at.
