About the Role We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Canberra Office. Our Organisation provides an opportunity for you to work in a supportive environment with dynamic professionals. This role will expose you to a range of sectors including Defence, Health, Education, and Infrastructure. You will also be supported by our national team operating under our One Lucid ethos.
The key responsibilities will include: Working in a team environment with our clients, other engineers and staff to ensure the smooth delivery of project requirements. Supporting the development of our emerging professionals through coaching, mentoring and assisting with technical problem solving. Design, documentation, correspondence, reporting and consulting tasks associated with the mechanical services including but not limited to chilled water systems, DX systems and BMS. Undertaking mechanical and other computational calculations. Ongoing familiarisation and use of the Australian Standards, National Construction Code and all other codes and standards relevant to the building services field and the mechanical services discipline. Assessing buildings, both existing and new against the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards. Undertaking quality assurance reviews for mechanical engineering work prepared by others prior to release from the office. Documenting system designs in both preparation of technical specifications and technical drawings. Implementing system designs in accordance with relevant Australian and International Standards. Liaising with external parties including clients, contractors and suppliers. Attendance at site inspections and project meetings, and preparation/review of reports and minutes. A commitment to accuracy, high standards of written and verbal communication, punctuality, organisation, presentation and to ongoing development and improvement in these areas with a view to your refinement of a well-rounded base of consulting skills and technical knowledge. Attendance at industry events as a Lucid representative. About you The successful applicant will seek to support the growth of the business through continuous improvement practices within the organisation. This role would suit a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years building services experience. To be successful in the role you will have the following skills: Strong team attitude and willingness to be open and engaging with team members. Australian-recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Australian Citizenship or permanent working rights in Australia. Chartered Engineer (preferred) or commenced the process with Engineers Australia. Experience in REVIT (preferred, not necessary) and AutoCAD, including knowledge of Level of Detail (LoD) protocols. Strong willingness to learn. Willingness to work within a strong team environment. Experience with Quality Assurance systems and procedures. Understanding of requirements and intents of the National Construction Code Building Code of Australia.
