TEACHING AND LEARNINGIn 2024, Gaayip-Yagila Primary School introduced an Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) approach to Mathematics. This approach is designed to enhance student learning outcomes through clear, focused, and effective instruction. EDI emphasises structured lessons that incorporate clear learning objectives, step-by-step teaching, and active student engagement.
In line with the Department of Education's phonics approach to Reading, we utilise Little Learners Love Literacy (LLLL) in our early years. Our reading approach for Years 3 to 6 continues building on foundation skills and nurturing early reading enthusiasm and confidence.

ResponsibilitiesDirect teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
