The Locksmith ll position is to provide general and specific maintenance and carpenter functions for all university facilities.
Work to include, but not limited to, carpentry work, door hardware installation and maintenance, door repair and adjustment, lockset and core installations and repairs, key-cutting, access control, and other duties as assigned-performs minor carpentry functions.
Assisted with renovations/remodeling projects for campus facilities.
Working hours Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with occasional Responsibilities:Install new locks (mechanical and electronic type) and door hardware as needed.
This would include new construction, remodel projects, breakage, , verify operation, and distribute keys, for academic areas and residence and adjust door-mounted closers, hinges, ADA operators, exit devices, panic hardware, and other finish locks, disassemble locks, and replace worn tumblers, springs, batteries, and other parts, as needed.
Must be able to work with all carpentry hand and power tools.Installs and maintains electronic access control systems (industrial and commercial security hardware).
Routine programming of offline and non-networked electronic locks for security purposes, respond to lost key incidents, and change safe combinations.
Keep accurate and up-to-date on all keys and locks, and maintain a database of all keys , install, and maintain Master-Key systems, including new construction and remodel projects.Produce and replace/repair locks, keys, and combinations for office equipment, including but not limited to desks, file cabinets, hazardous materials storage, HIPPA-regulated containers, gates, key switches, and any other capitol equipment.Hurricane preparedness and cleanup.Additional duties as assigned.Participate in the on-call program.
Required to carry the cell phone 24/7 for on-call duty to respond to after-hour lock or security-related issues.
