What You'll Be Doing...
Building Genetic Pipelines: Use your Linux, Bash, and Python skills to develop robust data pipelines for processing and integrating large-scale genetic datasets. Automating Workflows: Write scripts and leverage tools to ensure scalability, error handling, and reproducibility in our data operations. DevOps & Infrastructure: Manage high-performance on-prem servers while implementing best-in-class DevOps practices. Optimising Data Processing: Tackle large datasets by optimising memory, CPU, and I/O for efficient resource use. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with geneticists, developers, and infrastructure experts to seamlessly integrate algorithms into our workflows. Maintaining Pipelines: Provide ongoing support to keep our tools and pipelines efficient and up-to-date.
What We're Looking For...
Linux Expert: You know Linux like the back of your hand, from file systems to permissions and process management. Bash & Python Pro: Proven experience in scripting and automation, with a knack for making things run smoothly. DevOps Enthusiast: Familiar with modern tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible). Problem Solver: You love finding efficient solutions to complex technical challenges. Team Player: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Detail-oriented: Organisational skills that ensure accuracy in handling large-scale genetic data. Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments. Knowledge of livestock genetics (cattle and beef). Familiarity with Python ML tools like Pandas, NumPy, or scikit-learn.
