We are now recruiting for our next Ground School, commencing in April 2025! We are looking for pilots who are ready to take on the challenge of serving in a dynamic and rewarding environment.About the roleThis is a full-time Line Pilot position based in Jandakot, Western Australia with the Royal Flying Doctor Service WO. As a Line Pilot, you will play a vital role in providing critical medical and emergency services to regional and remote communities across Western Australia.What you'll be doingOperating and flying aircraft in a range of conditions and environmentsTransporting patients, medical staff and equipment to and from regional and remote locationsPerforming pre-flight checks and maintaining aircraft airworthinessNavigating aircraft and communicating with air traffic control and ground support teamsAdhering to all safety procedures and regulationsProviding high-quality customer service to patients and medical personnelWhat we're looking forCommercial Pilot Licence (CPL)Significant experience (minimum 1500 hours) flying fixed-wing aircraft in a variety of weather conditionsFixed-wing single pilot experience (Turboprop)Strong situational awareness, decision-making and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesCommitment to safety and a collaborative team environmentWillingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and public holidaysWhat we offerCompetitive remuneration and salary packaging optionsOngoing professional development and training opportunitiesAccess to our wellbeing program and employee assistance servicesOpportunities for career progression and leadership developmentAbout UsThe mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and lives our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilizing diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.In 2024, the RFDS is launching a new five-year strategy 'Above and Beyond', which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history.
