The Melbourne office requires a leader to take over the direction and vision of an established, creative focused lighting team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team working across a broad spectrum of projects in various business sectors; not just pure lighting design, but research, content and digital media.
We work with market leading clients, architects, interior designers and artists to deliver stimulating people focused experiences within the built environment.
As well as design thinking and a demonstrated portfolio of lighting experience, the particular skills we are seeking are around leadership, delivery and people/project management.
The role will include the design and management of projects with support from the experienced local and regional teams.
The candidate will be required to have experience in all parts of the design process, from research/concepts, through to commissioning and site work.
They will also need demonstrated experience in business acumen, proposal writing and negotiation..
The Opportunity Responsible for the overall performance of a 7-person team, from diverse backgrounds and skillsets, as part of the management team; this role is required to promote learning opportunities from successes and problems that arise; Develop connections into the business through consistent interactions and sharing expertise External market presence of our team, building on existing connections and bringing new ones with you Commercial understanding across multiple projects at once, whilst delivering work of quality Interest in leading night time social change and sustainability beyond the lighting discipline At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive.

Is this role right for you?
Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in lighting design, architecture/interior design, industrial design or similar area; Skilled in visual communicate including hand sketching and software packages & graphical communications software (Photoshop, InDesign) Demonstratable ability to guide and inspire teams to achieve shared goals, leveraging diverse strengths and fostering a cooperative environment.
Experience in technical lighting calculations (i.e.
Dialux, Dialux Evo AGI32) Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership; What we offer you At Arup, we care about each member's success, so we can grow together.
