Job Description
The Lighting Designer forms part of the Lighting Design team within the global structure of the company and assumes general responsibilities that pro-actively contribute to the growth of Lighting Design consultancy capabilities.
This includes assisting in all design, documentation, administration and compliance with project constraints undertaken for lighting design consultancy. You will also need to fulfill legal responsibilities commensurate with your position. The following is an overview of responsibilities and performance standards required of the Lighting Designer:
Major Function
Carry out lighting design activities assigned by the Team Manager or Senior Lighting Designer from concept stage to project completion, ensuring all work is completed to a high and consistent standard in accordance with applicable codes, standards & procedures
Manage assigned work to meet project needs and proactively work with other team members to ensure that project goals are met
Ensure costs are effectively controlled on assigned work and that work is completed within budget and time 2 frames
Attend client meetings/site inspections when required
Provide high quality detailed lighting designs as required. The design shall interpret the needs of Clients, work with the architectural features and co-ordinate with other disciplines
The Lighting Designer's work shall project individuality whilst working in close co-operation with Clients, Architects and other members of the consultancy team
Emphasis shall be placed on the creation and presentation of the concept and the ability to demonstrate the economic benefit of good lighting to Clients
Produce hand sketches, computer aid programs and/or other materials which explain and demonstrate the proposed concept in details of high quality.
At design stage, the agreed solution(s) shall be fully documented
Assist the Principal and Senior Lighting Designer for Lighting to create, build and maintain business opportunities in this field and create an identity of the specialist lighting activities
Carry out research on potential lighting materials and share knowledge and update technical library
Keep up to date with lighting analysis software programs and products new to the market that will help develop our business
Maintain a strong knowledge of energy codes and other related codes and standards
Evaluate opportunities for improved efficiencies and effectiveness in consultation with management including identifying, developing and implementing standards, systems, tools and processes to support continuous improvement within the business
Take an active interest in the other disciplines (Façade, BMU, Acoustics, Building Physics, Logistics etc..) in order to further develop your specialist skills
Assist the Principal or Senior Lighting Designer as required
Project Operation / Management
Cost planning and output required to meet project budgets and design outcomes
Allocation and management of time to suit programs and project budgets
Ensure your tasks are completed on-time
Ensure high technical standing on the project is such that client complaints do not arise
Customer / Client Service
Help communicate with clients to establish their needs and maintain a dialogue throughout the project
Work with the approach of generating and a favorable rapport amongst clients.
Continually aim for repeat business from all clients in contact with Inhabit
Technical Quality Control
Identification of technically complex projects and problems that require high level input
Provision of concept design, peer review and checking services on international projects to assist in maintaining high standards
Taking necessary action to prevent the occurrence of design documentation and/or quality system non-conformity
Ensure all project documentation is maintained to a level as required by Inhabits' QA system
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture, interior design, lighting design, or any related field.
At least 10 years of experience in lighting design.
Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge required to complete job responsibilities and/or asks for further information.
Conducts thorough analysis before making decisions.
Makes sound, logical, and timely decisions.
Develops and implements effective action plans to achieve assigned tasks.
Meets deadlines as required and maintains performance under pressure.
Good command of English and Thai.
