Are you passionate about fostering a love for reading and learning? We are seeking a dynamic Teacher Librarian to join our vibrant school community. In this role, you will inspire students, curate diverse resources, and create an engaging library space. The new Teacher Librarian would have a hand in developing the library at the new campus. The successful applicant would act as the Librarian at both our campus and therefore split their time across both locations.

The Role:

The Teacher Librarian plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of learning and inquiry. It is envisaged that the new Teacher Librarian would have a hand in developing the library at the new campus. The successful applicant would act as the Librarian at both our campus and therefore split their time across both locations. This position is integral to empowering our community, including students and staff, through literacy, information management, and educational collaboration within the library environment. The Teacher Librarian will work collaboratively to promote reading, develop information and inquiry skills, and resource various school activities. This role combines the responsibilities of an educator and an information manager, requiring integrated understandings of both areas. Key Responsibilities:

Student Engagement: Motivating and developing students' love for literature and learning by creating a fun, friendly, and welcoming environment. This includes getting to know students and their interests, making personal recommendations, and encouraging full utilization of the library's resources. Curriculum Support: Implementing and promoting the Australian National Curriculum through library resources. Working with teaching staff to integrate library services into classroom activities and lesson plans. Resource Management: Curating a diverse and engaging collection of materials that support both curriculum and extracurricular needs. Ensuring that the stock is presented in an engaging and accessible manner and reflects the needs of various age groups, teaching plans, and special interest groups. Educational Activities: Organizing and facilitating educational activities for the wider community. Promoting reading and quality literature through the provision of strong collections and information access. Library Management: Organizing and managing the library, ensuring its effective use by classes, groups, and individuals. Creating and implementing a library policy that aligns with the educational aims and objectives of the school and complies with relevant legislation. Budget Management: Taking responsibility for and managing the library budget, including preparing budget proposals and estimates. Library Development: Developing a new library in conjunction with the executive team and dedicating time at both campuses as dictated by the timetable. Selecting, acquiring, organizing, and promoting library resources and ICT to support teaching and learning. Supervision and Atmosphere: Supervising students using the library for independent study and maintaining a welcoming, supportive atmosphere conducive to positive learning experiences. Professional Development: Maintaining professional development to keep abreast of curriculum and pedagogical trends. Participating in staff development days and attending after-school staff meetings.

Requirements:

Passion for literature and literacy development. Proficiency in information technology, including database management and internet resources. Strong organizational and communication skills. Current teaching registration and relevant library qualifications. Ability to motivate and develop children through literature. Willingness to engage with students of all ages. Understanding of the Australian National Curriculum.
