To provide civil legal advice and litigation services to the State and its Agencies by acting as a litigious solicitor and counsel. This position has a particular focus on general civil litigation matters involving the State and its Agencies with a focus on debt recovery.

DutiesTo act as solicitor and counsel in civil matters involving the State and its Agencies before any State Courts, Tribunals or Boards at first instance.To act as solicitor and counsel in civil appellate matters under the supervision of more senior legal practitioners.To provide advice to the State and its Agencies in respect of civil legal issues.To act as counsel in such matters involving the State and its Agencies as may be directed from time to time by the State Litigator.To assist as directed by the State Litigator and/or the Executive Officer of the State Litigation Office with the development and documentation of legal policies, practices, and procedures of the Office.To participate in performance management and file reviews as directed by the Assistant Solicitor-General (Litigation).Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.A Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (employment).Pre-employment ChecksThe Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion, or transfer.
