D'Arcy Weil is representing a prominent telecommunications company known for its innovative technology solutions and industry leadership. Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their team, focusing on technology-related legal matters and supporting strategic initiatives.
As a Legal Counsel specialising in technology, you will provide legal advice on a wide range of technology projects, including software development, IT infrastructure, data privacy, and digital innovation. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to manage legal risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities Provide legal advice on technology-related matters, including software contracts, licensing, and technology procurement. Draft, review, and negotiate technology agreements, including software, hardware, and cloud services contracts. Advise on data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity issues in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Support the development and implementation of technology policies and procedures. Collaborate with IT and technology teams to address legal issues and manage risks associated with technology initiatives. Oversee legal aspects of technology projects, including intellectual property rights and technology transfer agreements. Manage disputes and legal claims related to technology projects and contracts. Conduct legal research and analysis on emerging technology trends and regulatory changes. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal matters related to technology. Liaise with external legal advisors and regulatory bodies as needed. Support strategic decision-making by providing legal insights and recommendations. Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in technology law. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Law; a Master's degree or relevant qualifications (e.g., LLM) in technology law is highly desirable. Extensive experience in legal roles within the technology sector, preferably in a telecommunications or IT environment. Strong understanding of technology law, data protection, and intellectual property. Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex technology contracts and agreements. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively. Familiarity with Australian technology regulations and industry standards. Current Australian working rights are essential; sponsorship is not being offered.
