Legal Counsel - Private Banking/Wealth ManagementJS Careers is currently working with a leading global bank in their search to appoint a Legal Counsel to support their Retail Banking & Wealth Management division.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, the successful candidate will have extensive experience in banking and finance law, contracts law and have a good understanding of how digital products and services are applied in a financial services setting.
The successful candidate will work very closely with stakeholders across the firm in providing commercially orientated legal advice.
Role responsibilities:Knowledge and experience of retail banking, wealth, private banking and the Australian banking and financial services legal regime.Experience in the drafting and negotiation of a broad range of commercial contracts.Experience providing legal guidance in relation to a wide range of laws and regulations such as the National Consumer Credit Protection Act, National Credit Code, Banking Code of Practice, the Corporations Act and unfair contracts laws.Providing legal advice, guidance and support for the banks digital agenda including advising on the implementation of digital customer journeys, mobile apps and instant messaging tools.Experience in negotiating and drafting documentation and supplier contracts across the spectrum of retail and wealth management products, including platform agreements and product disclosure statements.Providing legal and regulatory advice to the business on new products and services and proactively anticipating legal issues and identifying future legal requirements.Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements relating to suppliers, vendors, and software and technology licensing.Candidates will be considered from:Top tier Commercial law firms – with banking and financial services focus.In-house legal teams - within retail banking or wealth management with strong digital banking exposure.Candidates must also have the following:Bachelor of Laws.3+ years PQE with experience within banking.A thorough understanding of the Australian financial services contracts law and procurement law.Knowledge and experience of retail banking, wealth, private banking and the Australian banking and financial services legal regime.An ability to operate autonomously and to apply sound commercial and risk judgement to various situations.Ability to collaborate with and manage senior stakeholders within the business. #J-18808-Ljbffr
