We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join the team. You will oversee and autonomously handle the daily legal support for the ANZ Foods Marketing team, while also providing legal assistance to other departments, such as procurement and data insights.
Responsibilities: Lead legal support for Foods marketing teams in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and corporate policies. Review and revise marketing and advertising materials, including promotions and consumer communications, with a focus on social media legal risks. Provide guidance on privacy laws regarding the collection and use of personal information for targeted marketing. Assist the e-Commerce team in maintaining accurate product claims and legal support for online operations. Draft, negotiate, and manage marketing-related agreements, including sponsorships and talent contracts. Monitor food law trends and regulatory changes, advising the business on implications and competitor claims. Deliver training on compliance topics such as Anti-Bribery and Consumer Law while managing outside legal counsel effectively. Collaborate with internal teams to enhance legal operations and promote a safe and healthy work environment. Qualifications: 4-6 years PQE in consumer, IP, or commercial law, preferably within a multinational food and beverage or FMCG environment. Possesses an Australian legal qualification with an active practicing certificate. Background in intellectual property, consumer law, and competition law is highly preferred. Strong understanding of social media platforms, associated legal risks, and privacy laws. Highly proactive and confident, demonstrating initiative in various situations. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, engaging senior stakeholders and making challenging decisions. Proven leadership skills, able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
