Integral part of the global Maersk Legal team and APA Legal team, reporting to the Senior Area Legal Counsel for OCE. The position will be based in Sydney (ideally).Support Senior Area Legal Counsel in providing legal service to local management and commercial functions. Manage and assist in reviewing commercial operational documents from legal perspective to align with Maersk legal standards. Proactively flag risks with a commercial and pragmatic approach. Provide support on initiatives and improvement in legal support.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for safeguarding Maersk's values, interests and reputation and "getting the best possible deal" across the line.Advice and support on drafting of commercial contracts and other legal documents.Monitor regulatory updates and flag material regulation changes that can affect Maersk's business.Assist on strategic growth projects and investments.Support on handling and overseeing litigation in the area.Support on various engagements with authorities.Managing of external legal counsel and notary.Support on identifying and addressing legal issues in a pragmatic and risk-based fashion.Collaborate and coordinate with Senior Area Legal Counsel to work with other departments and functions such as Finance, Tax, Compliance, Procurement etc.Who we are looking forBachelor or Master of Laws. Minimum 3 years of relevant legal experience. Experience in private practice (law firm) a plus.Solid experience with general corporate, regulatory and commercial legal issues.Experience with reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts; able to identify and understand commercial context.Able to collaborate with the business to identify issues and propose practical solutions.Commercial mind-set, drive to deliver high quality results, high level of integrity.Effective communicator, empathetic, personal tact.Well organised, eye for detail, punctual.
