What role will you play?
As Legal Counsel, you will advise on renewable energy transactions and projects and provide general legal support to the team. Aula is active across the entire renewable energy project lifecycle, as well as the M&A market. For this reason, we are looking for a property, projects or corporate lawyer to join our Legal Team.
Our Legal Team advises on and negotiates a range of commercial matters, including:
EPC contracts, supply and install contracts, balance of plant contracts, PPAs/offtake agreements, connection agreements, O&M agreements,
land acquisitions (including licences, options to lease or purchase, leases, sale etc) and planning approvals (including Commonwealth, State and local council approvals and processes)
security sale and purchase agreements and related M&A transaction documents
project financing agreements and progressing projects to financial close
partnering arrangements (including JV agreements, security holders agreements, joint development services agreements etc)
general commercial contracts and matters, including NDAs, consultancy agreements, disputes
advising on risk management activities across both project lifecycles and the business more generally
You will be experienced in one or more of the above areas, with a willingness to develop your skillset to advise the broader business.
What you offer
Fully qualified lawyer with 4+ years PQE
Demonstrated experience providing advice on energy or infrastructure transactions in Australia
Experience in large or specialised law firm and/or experience in-house at an energy or infrastructure company
Proven ability to prioritise and progress legal matters, escalate issues where needed, and ensure all decision makers are identified and briefed as appropriate
Capability to manage external legal advisers, including managing the allocation of resources and skills between internal and external counsel and ensuring consistent, cost-effective legal support
Demonstrated commitment to driving continual improvement across the Aula Energy business by assisting with the design and use of precedent contracts, developing and adopting new processes and workflows with a focus on simplification and user experience, and delivering training to the team.
Strong communication skills with the ability to adjust messages for a range of audiences
Ability to influence outcomes independent of hierarchy
Strong conceptual thinking/strategic analysis skills
Ability to apply legal and business experience to appropriately prioritise effort and characterise risk
Flexibility to handle a diverse range of matters across all business units
