Legal Counsel  Great Southern Bank is seeking a new Legal Counsel to join the team on a permanent full-time basis.The role of Legal Counsel is to provide unbiased, effective legal advice that protects and promotes the reputation of the Bank, and to collaborate and support other members of the legal team.You will work alongside Senior Legal Counsel on various challenging legal matters.Additionally, you will also work independently from time to time to deliver proactive legal services to our organisation based on continuous improvement, training and education.This position is located in the Brisbane CBD Head Office with the flexibility to work from home two days per week.Your Responsibilities: •Reviewing and negotiating contracts with stakeholders, and suppliers and non-routine transactions •Providing unbiased, accurate and timely legal advice on legal issues to the organisation under guidance of Senior Legal Counsel.The diverse range of legal matters include: -Contracts and procurement -Regulatory compliance -Property law -Privacy -Marketing •Becoming legal point of contact as an advisor for stakeholders •Understanding the requirements and considerations of a customer owned ADI, including identifying risks and work on process improvement •Being a proactive member of the high performing legal team, including managing your matters, meetings, and calendar effectively and efficiently •Supporting other team members as needed About you: •Hold a current unrestricted practising legal certificate in Queensland, or in another Australian State •Have 3 to 5 years PAE as a lawyer.Additionally, private practice experience in a reputable firm practising in the financial services industry will be well regarded •Extensive experience in the financial services industry will be well regarded •Excellent attention to detail and demonstrated experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts  •Have the ability to provide commercially focused legal advice under guidance of Senior Legal Counsel •Ability to manage competing priorities and escalations •Know how to hold the line whilst maintaining professional relationship with stakeholders A little bit about us… For over 75 years, we've been putting our customers first, and today we look after the financial needs of more than 380,000 Australians.We have recently changed our name from CUA to Great Southern Bank but we remain customer-owned and firmly focused on helping all Australians own their own homes.We're ambitious and as we continue to grow, we are investing significantly in technology, products, and people.We have a culture that's fun, approachable, and supportive - allowing our team members to be their best every day, whether that's at work or at home.We're hugely excited about the journey ahead and are looking for talented and enthusiastic people who want to be part of a winning customer team.If you are motivated, energetic, and dedicated to helping our customers achieve the great Australian dream, we want to hear from you!At Great Southern Bank, we're committed to building a strong, inclusive and diverse workplace, where people feel a sense of belonging, are valued, connected and respected.We value diverse backgrounds, cultures, abilities, ideas and experiences;  recognising the benefits they bring to our work, our communities and the way we help our customers.We support and promote an inclusive culture through flexible ways of working, collaboration, fair and equitably decision making that empowers our people to be at their best every day.Apply now Share Save Job
