Join our growing team and make an impact!SUMMARY:Nayax is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Compliance Officer & Legal Counsel to manage both the compliance and legal aspects of Nayax's operations in Australia and New Zealand.
This role will focus on ensuring the company complies with local regulatory requirements, particularly in the areas of anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), and other key financial regulations.
As Legal Counsel, you will also provide legal guidance on corporate, contractual, and regulatory matters, ensuring that Nayax adheres to legal best practices while mitigating legal and financial risks.The ideal candidate will have a solid background in compliance and legal advisory roles, particularly in the fintech, payments, and financial services sectors, with a strong understanding of the regulatory frameworks in New Zealand and Australia.IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL:Compliance:Ensure compliance with all applicable financial services laws and regulations in Australia and New Zealand, particularly in the fintech and payments sectors.Manage and monitor the implementation of AML and CTF systems and controls in both New Zealand and Australia, ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements.Develop, update, and maintain internal policies and procedures that align with AML/CTF regulations in both jurisdictions, ensuring they remain effective and relevant.Ensure the compliance program remains up-to-date with regulatory changes and adapt it as needed for new products and services.Act as a key point of contact for acquirers, financial partners, and regulatory bodies in both New Zealand and Australia, ensuring compliance with local requirements.Regularly monitor compliance and report findings to the Nayax Group Corporate Compliance team, assist in elaborating, further implementation, and supervision over the remediation activities.Legal Counsel:Advise and support Nayax's operations in New Zealand and Australia on commercial legal matters related to the business (product, procurement, R&D, IT, finance, labor, etc.
).Provide legal guidance on new projects, initiatives, business lines, and market expansions.Work closely with senior managers and the Nayax Group Corporate Legal Team on various legal and commercial projects.Draft, review, negotiate and manage commercial contracts, including customer agreements, SaaS agreements, vendor agreements, distribution agreements, etc.Handle corporate governance matters, ensuring compliance with relevant corporate laws, ethical standards, and Nayax's internal policies.Maintain regular communication with suppliers, ensuring high levels of service and responsiveness.Play a key role in the periodic closing process, including account reconciliations, accounts payable, expense accruals, prepaid schedules, intercompany transactions, and amortizations.Maintain proper documentation and filing systems to ensure easy access to financial records and support audit requirements and BoL reports.WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH:A qualified lawyer in Australia.A qualified lawyer in New Zealand is an advantage (but not essential).Experience as a Compliance Officer & Legal Counsel, preferably from a fintech or financial industry company, acquirer, bank, etc.3 years experience as a compliance and Legal Counsel.Experience in developing and administrating internal controls and processes.WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS JOB:Be a part of a global group, interacting with various team members around the world.Lead the New Zealand & Australia chapter of the legal compliance program.Join a great team, emphasizing a culture of cooperation, growth, and innovation.Work in a multinational environment for a global market leader.
